3. Is A New Leaf leaving Broken Arrow?

No. The need for services for people with developmental disabilities is vast. A New Leaf is expanding our services to Owasso in order to serve more people with developmental disabilities and autism living in Green Country with a more comprehensive availability of resources. Our Broken Arrow location will stay fully operational as it is today.

4. What is the Transition Academy?

The Transition Academy is a two-year comprehensive program designed for young adults with high functioning autism to live and work independently. For some, living independently in the community is a possibility, but additional supports are necessary in order to do so successfully. The Transition Academy emulates a college feel with a curriculum specifically designed to meet the needs of our residents. Residents will learn basic money management, interview/vocational skills, social interaction skills, medication management, and many more. We anticipate forging partnerships with TCC, Tulsa Tech, and other community collaborations to provide continuing education courses.

5. How will residents be part of the Owasso community?

Residents will participate in the activities that Owassoans enjoy including shopping, visiting restaurants, attending community festivals, attending worship services if they wish, going to the gym and many more.

6. How can members of the community be part of The Village?

Members of the community can visit our retail garden center to purchase plants or Café at The Village. We anticipate growing our partnership with Owasso Public Schools to incorporate a living classroom for students to incorporate STEM lessons. In addition, businesses may offer employment opportunities for our clients to learn vocational skills and further enhance their self-sustainability. We welcome volunteers at The Village, too!

7. When will The Village be open?

Construction for The Village began in late 2020. The first residents will move to The Village in late 2021.

8. Is there space at The Village for me or my family member?

Phase I of The Village is currently full with a waiting list. Planning for Phase II expansion will begin after Phase I is complete.
